C: Levomepromazine
I: Psychosis, schizophrenia; palliative care of terminal illness particularly in those marked by restlessness, anxiety, agitation, emotional disturbance, nausea & vomiting. In conjunction w/ narcotic analgesics in the treatment of severe pain.
D: Adult:Ambulatory patient Initial dose not >25-50 mg in 3 divided doses, higher dose to be taken at bedtime. Bed patient Initial dose 100-200 mg in 3 divided doses, increase to 1 g if necessary. Childn 10 yr 15-20 mg. Total daily dose: 40 mg.
CI: Pregnancy. Liver impairment, cardiac disease.
SP: Elderly, debilitated or cardiac patients. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Alcoholic beverages.
AR: Somnolence, asthenia, dry mouth, hypotension, agranulocytosis, photosensitivity, allergic skin reactions. Parkinson-like reactions in high doses.
