Generic Name: Felodipine
Formulations: 5mg tablet
Indications or Uses Treatment of Hypertension
Dosage and Directions for Use: Adult Initially 5 mg once daily, may be increased up to a max of 10 mg once daily after at least 2 weeks
Administration: Take without food or with a light meal. Swallow whole, do not chew/divide. Avoid grapefruit juice.
Contraindication: Stroke w/in the last 6 mth, CV shock, valvular heart disease (higher-grade aortic or moral stenosis), hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, unstable angina pectoris, acute MI w/in the last 8 wk, 2nd- & 3rd-degree AV block, CHF, severe hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy. Childn.
Special Precaution: Conduction disorders, heart failure, tachycardia, hemodynamically relevant aortic &/or mitral valve stenosis. Mild to moderate hepatic impairment. Avoid abrupt w/drawal. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Lactation.
Adverse Reaction: Flushing, headache, tinnitus.
Interactions: Other BP lowering drugs, TCAs; cimetidine, erythromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, grapefruit; carbamazepine, phenytoin, barbiturates
